A former Benowa State High School student has ignited current students’ passion for drag racing and engineering by bringing a modified dragster car to the school.
Ashleigh Dawson said he hoped bringing a dragster car to the Year 11 engineering class would engage students, promoting safe driving and showcasing motor sport engineering.
“My former teacher, Brian McErlean has been wonderful in getting this organised and leading the charge the school to bring my dream to reality and help promote safe driving within my community,” Mr Dawson said.
“I am hoping to give back and support the teacher whose guidance in high school was instrumental in me following my passion.”
Mr Dawson is the founder of Racing 4 Significance, and he aims to inspire kids’ interest in drag racing and motor sport engineering in a controlled environment.
“Brian was a very influential part of my teenage years when I was at Benowa SHS – believing in me and giving opportunities,” Mr Dawson said.
